Political prisoner lawyer-consultant Alexander Kapshul, sentenced by the regime to 15 years in prison, is among the top three finalists of the Global Advocacy Award (Global Advocacy Award)!
Harvard Law School Advocates (Advocates) and Harvard Human Rights Journal (HHRJ) annually present the Global Advocacy Award to a human rights activist whose work inspires aspiring practitioners to dedicate themselves to the advancement of human rights and human dignity.
When selecting candidates, they are evaluated:
- contribution to efforts to promote human rights and human dignity;
- dedication;
- application of innovative approaches to the protection of human rights;
- ability to inspire and serve as a model for future human rights defenders;
- potential for advocacy efforts in support of systemic changes.
Oleksandr Kapshul's work is an example of an important links between trade union organization and human rights and demonstrates the ability of ordinary people to stand up to injustice in Belarus and around the world.
Alexander Kapshul was among the top three finalists, and the winner was Palestinian human rights activist Issa Amro .
