Due to systematic violations of trade union rights, Belarus is facing more sanctions
07.11.2022, a discussion was held at the International Labor Organization on the topic of violation of workers' rights in Belarus.
Groups of workers and employers (!) voted for the application of paragraph 33! against the illegitimate government of Belarus.
Russia, China, Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Laos spoke out against it. Laos surprised with his remarks about progress since 2004 - "union registration has been simplified". Judging by their speech, they know nothing about Belarus.
Due to the fact that Russia demanded a vote, it was not possible to make an agreed decision.
But, today, November 8 2022, the final vote has passed! Results:
Out of 56 votes, only China and Russia voted "No".
This means that the Governing Body of the ILO has adopted the application of the 33rd paragraph of the ILO Constitution. The ILO Director General should, in accordance with this decision, develop measures that can force Belarus to respect the right of workers to organize.
If Belarus does not correct the situation with the rights of citizens and trade unions, then, most likely, the country will be drawn into a deep economic crisis .
We urge you to prevent this - to release political prisoners and stop repressions in the country!
