Every true Belarusian is obliged to know and respect the Belarusian language, to speak and even think in it. The literary Belarusian language is insanely beautiful, loud, it exudes kindness and purity.
Why don't we, Belarusians, speak our native language? Why have you heard so little about Belarusian literature and Belarusian authors? There are many historical reasons for this.
In the 20s and 30s, people were arrested just for speaking Belarusian at home or on the street. The official number of victims shot from October 29 to 30, 1937 reaches 132 people, but there may be more victims. The executions continued until the middle of 1938 - scientists, historians, doctors were killed.
Belarusian literature, language and identity were trampled. This is the truest cultural genocide, from which our culture has not yet recovered.
During his 28 years in power, Lukashenka spoke in the Belarusian language quite a few times and, moreover, is known for making quite offensive statements against her. You will find out why Lukashenka constantly defends the "great Russian language" under various pretexts and oppresses Belarusian in our new release on the YouTube channel: https://youtu .be/IHmsQGWzCao
Reviving a language is very difficult, but perhaps the main thing is to wish. We must start with ourselves!
